At arms length…

Viewing smart devices devices too close, can have a detrimental impact on our children’s eyes. General consensus from the optical profession is that safer viewing has to be conducted from over 30cm. This includes, reading, tech and hobbies etc. Constant close up viewing can increase the chances of myopia rapidly.

At oyako, we have been measuring children’s arms whilst they hold tech. Interesting to find that no child below the age of 3 years had arms long enough to hold a device safely far enough away from their eyes.

We are hearing stories of parents placing iPads in with their children as pacifiers, whilst in the cot! These distances are way too close and could have a long standing profound effect.
